many cases, relief.
A respected commitment to service
He began his career as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy
following his graduation in 1992 from the University of Illinois,
where he earned a bachelors degree in political science and completed
the NROTC program. His first assignment was aboard the USS BRISCOE,
where he earned his designation as a surface warfare officer.
He was next assigned to ROTC instructor duty at Jacksonville
University in Jacksonville, Florida, where he taught marine navigation
and leadership/ethical management. While there, he earned his
MBA and graduated summa cum laude with a degree concentration
in finance.
Decorated naval officer and financial educator
Following completion of his MBA, Carl served as a combat systems
officer aboard the USS CLARK and also as a financial educator
and counselor to military families in the Financial Education
Department of the Navy Family Service Center. In 2000, he resigned
his active commission and was sworn in as an officer with the
Navy Reserves. That same year, he received his professional certification
as a CFP® practitioner.
Currently the rank of Commander, Carl has received a number of
awards, including the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine
Corps Achievement Medal and the Humanitarian Service Medal.
Carl lives with his wife, Diana, and their children, Abigail
and Elijah, in Greenfield, NH, where they love the outdoors and
